As a certified SYMBIS facilitator, I can walk you through the online SYMBIS and SYMBIS+ Assessments in a one-time overview or a 5-session in-depth discussion to prepare you for an amazing marriage. Sessions can be held in-person or via Zoom.

How to Get Married in Ontario
Before you can get married in Ontario, you’ll need a marriage license, you and your future spouse, two witnesses, and an officiant like me to perform the ceremony and sign the license.
- What do I need for the ceremony?
You’ll need you and your future spouse, a valid marriage license, two witnesses (18 or older), and a licensed officiant to perform the ceremony and sign the license during or immediately after the event.
- How do I get a marriage license?
To get a marriage license, fill out a marriage license application and bring it to your local city hall, town hall, or municipal office with original identification (e.g., passport, birth certificate) showing your current legal name, date of birth, and signature for both parties. Pay a fee (varies by municipality). The license is valid for 3 months from the date it’s issued. Download the Marriage License Application Form.
- How do I get my marriage certificate?
After the ceremony, you’ll receive a Record of Solemnization of Marriage (not a legal certificate). I’ll forward the signed marriage license to the Office of the Registrar General for registration. Once registered, apply for a marriage certificate online or at a ServiceOntario Centre with the marriage date, location, and both parties’ names. Costs: $15 (file-size) or $22 (certified long form, 8.5” x 14”).
